This month we are featuring CVV Founding Member, Jeanne Boyd.

Jeanne was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York and spent her childhood in Long Island and Falls Church, Virginia. She then moved to California and graduated high school from Notre Dame Academy in West Los Angeles. After graduation, she attended San Francisco College for Women with a major in history and minors in French and English. She then attended a fifth year at SFCW to get a Secondary Teaching Credential. She taught middle school in San Bruno for 4 years and did a lot of volunteering while her family was young.

She moved to Clayton in 1971 to get her family out of San Francisco and to enjoy country living. Since moving to Clayton she’s done substitute teaching in various middle schools in the area as well as teaching in the Gifted and Talented Program at Mt. Diablo Elementary School.

In addition to being a founding member of Clayton Valley Village, Jeanne belongs to the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Clayton Community Library Foundation (CCLF), Historical Society-Clayton and Contra Costa County, Clayton Business and Community Association (CBCA), Clayton Women's Club, Mt. Diablo Interpretive Association (MDIA), Mt. Diablo Audubon Society and Diablo Valley Fly Fishermen.

Jeanne was married for 47 years and has been widowed for 6 years. She has three children and six grandchildren (4 girls and 2 boys aged 7 to 14). Her hobbies include bocce, hiking, fishing, traveling, reading and volunteering in the library. She has traveled extensively all over the world. For relaxation she reads and enjoys visiting with friends and family.

When asked what interested her in becoming a founding member of Clayton Valley Village, Jeanne responded that she lives alone and her family does not live close enough to be of help should she need it. "I love the services of the volunteers and have met many new friends."
