Contra Costa County Library invites you to a free viewing of, "The Right to Read," a film by Jenny Mackenzie and executive produced by LeVar Burton (of "Reading Rainbow" fame). The film, which shines a light on the national literacy crisis, has helped spark dialogue regarding reading instruction in state legislatures and local school board meetings aroudn the country.
"The Right to Read" shares the stories of Oakland-based NAACP activist Kareen Weaver, an Oakland teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
The film will be available to watch digitally to a limited number of viewers.
Register to receive the link and passcode to access the film for 24 hours on November 28th.
The film will also be available to watch at a one-time in-person screening at the Lafayette Library.
