WHICH PATH WILL YOU CHOOSE IN FALL PREVENTION?
Falls are not an inevitable part of aging – yet more than a quarter of older adults fall each year, often suffering severe and life-threatening injuries. Come hear Alayne Balke, Fall Prevention Program Manager for Meals on Wheels/Diablo Region, discuss proactive steps seniors can take to redesign living spaces, plus evaluate our behaviors to reduce the risk of hurting ourselves through falls.
You’ll learn:
n The top three ways to prevent falls
n Recommendations for safer behaviors
n Home safety modifications you can make
n Simple exercises to improve balance
n What to do if a fall should happen
Please join us for this brown-bag lunch session to learn from a fall prevention expert how we can maintain our independence and avoid injury as we age!
Alayne Balke has been with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region for four years as the Fall Prevention Program Manager. She has a degree in Health Science with an emphasis on Community Health Education from San Jose State University, and is a Master Trainer for the “A Matter of Balance” fall prevention program.
