Often heard at the beginning of Korean legends and folktales, the phrase "When the tiger smoked a pipe" is the Korean equivalent of "Once upon a time." Inspired by the Asian Art Museum's collection of Korean art, this program explores the rich, layered, and evolving history of Korean artistic traditions. Renowned for its exquisite ceramics and textiles, Korea has continually created, adapted, and refined a remarkable range of art forms. Today, it is also recognized as a global leader in contemporary art.
Volunteer Docent Myoung-ja Kwon will guide participants on a fascinating exploration of Korean art at the Asian Art Museum, highlighting its historical significance, artistic innovation, and enduring cultural legacy.
