A self-guided tour of 35 Alameda and Conta Costa county gardens
(Three in Clayton and one in Concord)
This delightful collection of native plant gardens ranges from Al Kyte’s 40-year-old wildlife oasis to brand new installations, from large lots in the hills to small front-yard gardens, from local native plants to natives from throughout California, and from gardens designed and installed by owners to those designed and installed by professionals.
- The cost of the Garden Guide, which contains the garden addresses, is $10, which can be paid online via credit card or PayPal. Garden guides will be mailed in mid-April. Each adult (age 16 and older) must provide a ticket at the entry table before entering a garden. There are twenty tickets in the back of each guidebook. You may register for up to four people at one time. There should be enough tickets for a party of up to four people, as most people generally see 4 to 5 gardens.
- The tour starts at the garden of your choice at 10 am. Visit as many gardens as you like before 5 pm. Do not arrive before 10 am or after 5 pm. We recommend selecting the gardens you would like to visit by reviewing the garden descriptions and talks before setting out for the day.
